Learning to Blog

Hi everyone,

I'm taking an online class on blogging taught by superblogger Suzanne McMinn, and I'll be using this blog for my homework, so please bear with me as I experiment with different ideas and methods. The upside is I'll try to blog more often.

I could use some help with this. What do you like to see in a blog? What topics interest you? Do you like pictures with the blog entry or do they take too long to download?

Any ideas will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Linda

P.S. Blog novice that I am, I just recently discovered I'd had the comment feature set to only accept comments from people with Google email accounts. I've changed that now so anyone can comment. What can I say? I'm a little slow at times. :D

I have high-speed broadband so I like photos. But I have trouble planting them within the entry. I like your feather logo up at the top and your color scheme. Really pretty.

Hi Rhonda,

I like photos, too, except when I'm on a slow modem connection, which happens all too often. I sometimes size my photos down so they load quicker and don't take up as much room.

I left a comment at your blog about uploading photos, but don't know how much help it'll be at Word Press. It's pretty easy at Blogger.

I'm a big fan of photos, although I just recently started using them in my posts. I have a high-speed network, so it doesn't take a long time to load.

I'm still getting used to all the new features in my WordPress blog - a lot more to learn than what I used to do in Blogger.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I like photos, too. They not only break up the text a bit, but add depth to the topic. Plus - photography is in my blood, so pictures are IT for me. :-)

I think you're doing a great bloggin' job, Linda. And I LOVE the feather in your header. How did you do that?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the comments. This is fun! :)

Debbie, the header is a GIF graphic I created in Paint Shop Pro, including the feather. I just uploaded the graphic as my header.

I like your website and logo. Pictures are great especially if they tie in to your blog. I loved the ones on Debbie's site, the videos too. I still have to learn how to get the photos from my camera to my computer though so it might be a while. I'm really trying to not be such an e-tard!

I just checked out your alter ego site. How can I put this... for all the build up of having to be 18 & over I was really hoping to see some major nekid beefcake!

Wait I just clicked back and noticed a video... thank you. I do love a hot half naked man.

Lyndi, I guess I'm a visual person. I like pictures, and it doesn't seem like they take long to download. -Kathleen Rowland

Beth,

LOL, I didn't mean to make a _big_ deal about the over 18 stuff, but some of the excerpts have words in them that you can't say over the radio. Just trying to be responsible.

Hope you enjoyed the video. :)
